RaiseDebt

About

About RaiseDebt.

An independent, educational guide to how UK businesses borrow.

What RaiseDebt is

RaiseDebt explains business debt in the UK: what each kind of facility is for, how lenders decide, how it is secured and what it costs. The calculators show total cost and an effective annual rate rather than a headline rate, and the lender directory lists who offers what.

It is an independent educational site. RaiseDebt is not a lender or a credit broker, does not arrange finance and does not give regulated financial advice. Nothing here is a recommendation or an offer of credit.

Who writes it

Aaron Lawson-Clark, Founder
Aaron founded RaiseDebt and writes and reviews its guides, calculators and directory. Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed.

How the guides are put together

Figures and rules come from primary sources wherever possible: the Bank of England for benchmarks such as SONIA and Bank Rate, the British Business Bank for government-backed schemes, the FCA for what is and is not regulated, GOV.UK for tax, and lenders’ own published criteria for things like typical loan-to-value limits. Each guide lists its sources, and links are checked when the guide is reviewed.

We do not quote live market rates. Calculator defaults are illustrative examples, labelled as such. Where we could not find a reliable published figure, the page says so rather than guessing.

Advertising and independence

The site is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense, and ads are labelled as advertising. Lender listings are not ranked and are not endorsements. See privacy and cookies for how advertising uses cookies.

Corrections

We check these guides regularly. Confirmed errors are fixed and the review date on the page is updated.

Not financial adviceRaiseDebt is general, educational information only. It is not regulated financial advice, a recommendation or an offer of credit. Calculator results are illustrative estimates, not quotes. Speak to a qualified, FCA-authorised adviser or broker, and your accountant, before making borrowing decisions.
